Charles M. James, director and owner of Rocky Mountain Painting, Inc., has been a decorative painter since 1956 when he started out as a helper under his Italian grandfather in California. He moved to Utah in 1971 and started his own painting company. Under the tutelage of 3 Master Painters from Europe he learned the art of faux-painting. Since 1983 he has been traveling throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central and South America doing restorations in state capitols, churches, mansions, private residences and historic buildings.

Carl Frederickson has been a decorative painter since 1973. He is a specialist in wall finishes and has been involved in both decorative painting and workshops in the United States since 1983.

Rachael Sharp is our design specialist. She has been involved in decorative painting since 1984 and teaching workshops with RMUSA since 1990. Studying at the University of Utah, she received her bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts. Since then she has toured the United States doing both graphic design and decorative painting.

Ron Wheat grew up in the painting business under the tutelage of his father. He began decorative painting in 1979 and has a wide range of decorative painting skills. He is considered by many to be one of the best wood grainers in the United States. He has been teaching with RMUSA since 1983.
